RFU – Twickenham – World Cup Games

EARS plc are pleased to be supplying the RFU , home of rugby at Twickenham Stadium., with a Motorola Digital Trunked Radio Network. The venue holds a whopping 82,000 people, making it the fifth largest sporting stadium in the whole of Europe.

The Motorola – Capacity Plus system provides up to 12 voice channels giving clear coverage throughout the Stadium, RFU offices and spanning a number of km’s outside the Stadium for traffic management every match day. EARS plc have achieved this coverage using a specially designed antenna system unique to this stadium.

The system uses the latest and highest quality Motorola Mototrbo DP4400, DP4600 and DP4800 radios. These radios allow for individual, group and emergency calls. The emergency function will bring all radios into one single group regardless of which channel they are on.

TX interruption is a new feature which allows the controller to clear down a radio conversation in the event of an emergency. Some management staff for the Stadium were issued with display/keypad portables configured to emulate the features that are portrayed within the control room.

Further to the core radio system EARS plc has provided the Stadium, Catering Staff, and Broadcast Companies with hire equipment, in excess of 1000 portable radios, for use during the Anniversary Games, and events at the Stadium and World Rugby Cup Games 2015.
